We love to find fun and interactive ways to learn outside of books. Some of the best learning comes from hands-on activities after all. I love baking and very often bake cookies, cakes, and other goodies. Isla was always interested in helping me in the kitchen when I baked cookies. Then I started making sourdough, and she wanted to participate. A friend was giving away an extra I’m the Chef box that their child did not get to. Isla loved opening it and seeing all the colors and special tools for the cooking activity in the box. The instructions are colorful and have pictures drawn on them.
At first Isla and I did them together, and then after a few, she did them with Dad. It gave them a chance to hang out, and it was easy to do for a non-baker as well.
The box comes with all the dry ingredients for the recipe. They are all individually wrapped and labelled with a sticker. The types of ingredients you might need are the dairy items such as milk, eggs or butter. The box also comes with any of the baking equipment you might need to cook them. Any of the moulds or baking dishes is provided. We have also received a scale, lemon juicer and other unique items. The materials you are expected to have include measuring cups and utensils for mixing. Also, a microwave, fridge and oven, of course. It is really nice that they provide everything out of the ordinary. Isla had collected her own little cooking cabinet with her tools.

Isla always has so much fun baking. The family always has a great time enjoying her treats.
These are a few of our favorites. Hedgehog cupcakes that she had to use an icing tip to make the spikes. Panda Whoopie pies that also taught icing. The Easter cupcakes she had to mould the chocolate rabbits and make grass with the icing. One of our favorites was probably the snake pretzels. We had to make the dough and dye it, and then she rolled and shaped it into the snakes.
We made a lot of other things, including a fossil dig, present cupcakes and so much more! We forgot the photos of those. We also have another box to do and an extra that was gifted to her. Can’t wait to make them together!!
If you have a child who likes to cook, we recommend this monthly box to add a little more fun to the kitchen!
